Now in his 16th season behind the bench coaching the Chaminade Varsity Red Devils, Hrubes is also a proud alumni of the class of 1991 where he was also a Four Year Varsity Hockey player as well as a Varsity soccer and baseball player.

After serving as an assistant coach to former Chaminade legendary coaches Mark Finke and Matt Buha, Hrubes took over as the Head Coach at the start of the 2007-08 season helping the Varsity Red Devils back to the State Finals for their second year in a row.  He was also an assistant coach when the Red Devils made their first ever appearance in the State Finals back in 2000 as well as in 2008.  In his 15 seasons behind the bench as a coach, the Chaminade Red Devils have made 9 Final Four appearances in the St. Louis Blues/Mid States Challenge Cup as well as having four Chaminade student athletes be rewarded the St. Louis Blues Scholarship award.

As a player, Hrubes skated with the Chaminade Red Devils under Mark Finke for 4 years (1987-1991) and played 2 seasons with the St. Louis Junior Blues "Jr. B" (NAJHL) under Matt Buha (with fomer CCP player & Coach Gus Jacoby) in his Junior and Senior years in High School.  Hrubes also skated with Coach Wiley in their Senior season on the Mid States All-Star Team that represented the St. Louis area in the Chicago Showcase and several other tournaments in North America throughout the season.  Hrubes was then drafted by the Kalamazoo Jr. K-Wings "Jr. A" in the NAHL his Senior year and spent some time there before electing to go to college and play hockey at the University of Dayton, a former DIII NCAA school and now a member of the ACHA (American Collegiate Hockey Association).

After college, Hrubes attended a free agent camp with the Utica Blizzard of the former United Hockey League before eventually moving back to St. Louis.  Coach Hrubes is still actively playing hockey with the Southside Gears in the Brentwood Hockey League (BHL).  When not at an ice rink, Hrubes is a Vice President of Commercial Brokerage with Balke Brown Associates, a local commercial real estate company.  Feel free to send referrals. He is married to his beautiful wife Kristin and they are the proud parents of their sons, Colton and Hutch as well as their St. Bernard Sydney.

After High school, Wiley attended and played at the University of Missouri. While there he was the Assistant Captain under the tutelage of Player Coach Gus Jacoby. During those playing years and the long bus rides, Gus passed on advice about life after hockey and giving back to the game that had given him so much while taking such a toll on his body. This advice came in handy later on when Wiley decided to join the coaching staff at Chaminade.
